The Seven of Cups

The Upright Meaning
Hedonistic experiences. Emotions at a high level; frustration, boredom, and
the craving to appease the emotions. This card often indicates that there is
a choice to be made, most probably between the spiritual and the material
paths. This card can symbolize the multitude of opportunities, but it
cautions that careful research and discrimination should be conducted.
Otherwise, serious errors in judgement can occur.
The Reverse Meaning
Self-delusion and fantasy. Lost opportunities; false promises.
Disenchantment with environment or job. Delay in plans; environment seems to
rule the emotions. Possibly a fear of success. Loss of personal control over
circumstances.
The Singular Meaning
This is the card of overindulgence. Attempts are made to satisfy every
craving and sensational desire. All life is suddenly rooted in the material,
physical world, for it is physical sensations that are attempting to be
appeased. However, when there is no time nor energy left to pursue higher
causes, the result is stagnation of the heart and soul. It is a graphic
representation that disappointment, such as that shown in the Five of Cups,
was not resolved but simply repressed.
