The Upright Meaning
Short journeys, change of job or residence -- often both. Restlessness and
instability of purpose, however, ensures that no real progress is made.
There may be an enemy among those who are considered friends. Victory after
intense competition.
The Reverse Meaning
Indecision, laziness, and failure. Reluctance to complete what has been well
begun. Travel should be avoided, as well as all arguments.
The Singular Meaning
Feelings of hopelessness permeate the Seven of Swords. Emotions,
thoughts, and expectations are of a negative nature. There is
discouragement and depression, as well as overindulgence in all kinds of
negative thinking. The real truth, however, is that none of this
negativity is based on reality. The inability to communicate feelings
and fears leads to self-abnegation. The situations seems overwhelming.
But if the intense personal rejection can be seen for what it is (coming
from the inner rather than from external forces), then there can be
victory over the essence of this card.
