Short fiction is a wonderful avenue of expression. Though these short stories, we can live the lives our our subjets in a small amount of time.

PERSONAL NOTE: My favorite short story of all time and the one that has stuck with me though all these years is from Playboy magazine in 1971. Written by Robert Sheckley, the story "Three sinners in the green Jade Moon" or "Pas De Trois of the chef and the Waiter and the Customer". If you ever find a copy of this short, give it a read.
